Counters & Synergies

Countered-by and synergy picks are this site's own reading, based on each hero's kit. What the official app publishes is how often heroes are picked together (see "Frequently Paired With" below); it does not publish any rating of how well they match up.

The figures are the "match rate" published by the official in-game HoK Camp: how often these heroes ended up on the same team (fetched 2026-08-14). It is not a win rate, so a higher number does not mean a stronger pairing.

ImmunityMarkDamage
Yixing's Basic Attacks deal magical damage, and skill hits apply 1 stack of Anti-Qi. At 4 stacks, a Weiqi stone is summoned below the enemy, dealing 100 (100 + 10% magical attack) magical damage. This Weiqi stone is then pulled to the center of Skill 2's Weiqi formation, dealing 170 (170 + 11% magical attack) magical damage to enemies in its path. He gains 1 permanent Weiqi stone every time Anti-Qi marks are triggered, as well as 5 Weiqi stones every 60s and whenever he scores a kill or assist. Each permanent Weiqi stone grants 1 magical attack.
When taking fatal damage, he enters the void, summoning a Weiqi stone below his feet while gaining immunity to all damage and 30% Movement Speed for 1s. This effect has a cooldown of 150s.
When Weiqi stones summoned by Anti-Qi marks hit an enemy multiple times within a short duration, subsequent hits deal only 50% damage.

DamageVisionSlow
Places a Weiqi stone at the target location, gaining vision around it for 3s, dealing 100 (100 + 18% magical attack) magical damage, and reducing Taking Liberties' cooldown by 0.5s. The Weiqi stone lasts for 12s, and if a Weiqi formation is created, it will be pulled toward its center, dealing 180 (180 + 36% magical attack) magical damage to enemies in its path while slowing them by 25% for 1s. Hitting an enemy in this way will enhance his Basic Attack to deal 223 (120 + 60% physical attack + 18% magical attack) magical damage.
At 50/110/181 permanent Weiqi Stones, he gains an extra one-off skill that further improves his enhanced Basic Attack and grants a burst of Movement Speed for 5s. The enhanced Basic Attack improvements are a scattershot effect/17% damage boost/34% damage boost.
He stocks 1 Weiqi stone every 6s, for up to 2 stones. If an enemy is hit by multiple Weiqi stones being pulled to the Weiqi formation within 0.5s, subsequent hits only deal 50% of the initial damage. On-hit effects of enhanced Basic Attacks are reduced to 30%.

Yixing deals 160 (160 + 25% magical attack) magical damage in the target area, which expands into a Weiqi formation. Enemies within the central area take 160 (160 + 25% magical attack) extra magical damage and are pulled toward the center of the formation.
The Weiqi formation lasts 10s. If Yixing passes through the formation's edge, he gains a 50% Movement Speed increase that diminishes over 1s, while enemy heroes that do so gain a stack of Anti-Qi. Each effect can only be triggered once. If Yixing moves too far away from the formation, it disappears.

Yixing's position becomes the corner of a void Weiqi board. After 1.5s, the board takes shape and launches enemies within it for 0.5s. The Weiqi board lasts for 4s, during which enemy heroes cannot leave it. The board adds 3 Anti-Qi marks to enemy heroes over time and exposes their location. If he successfully traps an enemy hero, he gains 1 charge of Sliding Stones.
The smaller the Weiqi board, the shorter the cooldown, for a maximum reduction of 25%.
When the Weiqi board is fully formed, Yixing gains 30-70% Movement Speed that diminishes over time.

Strategy Guide

Playstyle

A mage who plays the fight like a board game — placing stones, drawing a board that traps enemies inside, pulling them toward the center. He builds inescapable positions, one move at a time.

Best for: Players who literally want to win on the board — laying groundwork stone by stone until the position is checkmate.

Recommended Combos
Four Marks, One Stone
Skill 1 (stone at their feet) → Skill 2 (formation pulls both enemies and stones to its center) → Skill 3 (board forms after 1.5s — 0.5s launch, 3 Anti-Qi marks) → Enhanced Basic Attack

With the formation already on the ground, the moment the board's marks reach the fourth stack a stone spawns under the enemy. It slides to the center and cuts everything standing on that line. The board needs 1.5s to appear, so drop it where backing out isn't an option — mid-objective, or right after an ally lands crowd control.

Clear the Wave, Buy Vision
Skill 1 (stone in front of the wave — trims 0.5s off Skill 2's cooldown) → Skill 2 (formation on the minions) → Basic Attack

Skill 2 deals 180% more damage to non-hero units, so dropping it on the wave finishes most of the clear by itself. Every Skill 1 cast shaves another 0.5s off Skill 2's cooldown — spending stones freely is what keeps the formation available. Put the time you save into a stone by the river for its 3s of vision.

These combos are not official data. They are this site's own write-up, built only from the skill data transcribed from the in-game display; nothing that the skill text does not state is included.

Strengths
  • The Ultimate's inescapable board is a lockdown no other hero can replicate
  • Stone accumulation grows his magic attack automatically across the whole game
  • Skill 2's 180% bonus damage to non-heroes makes wave clear effortless
  • The Passive's 1-second fatal-damage negation insures against burst deaths
Weaknesses
  • Low instant burst; his damage needs setup time before it comes online
  • The Ultimate's 1.5-second formation delay lets blink users walk out
  • No regular mobility skill, making him a favorite assassin target
  • The stones-then-formation sequencing takes real practice to master
Early Game Strategy

Yixing is a mid-lane setup mage who builds a board across the battlefield. Take Skill 2 at level 1 — it deals 180% bonus damage to non-heroes, so dropping the formation on a wave finishes your minion clear by itself. That clear speed is your early edge: it frees you to show at the river, and spare Skill 1 stones tossed into enemy jungle bushes buy 3 seconds of vision. Your durability is paper, but the Passive negates fatal damage for 1 second as a once-per-150-seconds insurance policy — if you get ganked, don't panic; use its speed boost and walk out.

Mid Game Strategy

This is where formation play separates good Yixing players from great ones. Skill 2 drags enemies near its center and slides any Skill 1 stones inside the area toward the middle for multi-hits, so burn the order into your hands: stones first, formation on top. Marks from skill hits and accumulated stones grow your magic attack for the entire game, which means from 6 to 10 minutes, every skill you land is literally banking late-game damage. The narrow river paths before Tyrant are the formation's best terrain — whoever lays their board first owns the fight.

Late Game Strategy

Past 10 minutes, the clumped fights over Shadow Tyrant and Overlord are your Ultimate's showcase. It has a 1.5-second formation delay, so overlap it on moments the enemy cannot back away — mid-attack on an objective, or right after allied CC lands. Trapped enemies can't leave the board for 4 seconds while marks stack on them automatically. The smaller you draw the board, the shorter its cooldown (up to 25% off), so cycling quick, small boards that lock down just two enemies is a genuinely strong late-game pattern.

Teamfight Strategy

Anchor yourself in the backline and start laying Skill 1 stones along the enemy's approach path. The instant they push in, drop the Skill 2 formation on top — the pull plus stone multi-hits shreds their shape. If you smell a dive coming, drawing a small Ultimate around your own feet is a defensive play you'll use constantly in real matches. Blink users tend to escape during the 1.5-second windup, so don't burn the Ultimate on a single target — hold it until the enemy is clumped with nowhere to retreat. That's the win condition.
